Preventing a Full Blown Gout Attack

I think I'm happy. I haven't had a full-blown gout attack in months! *knock on wood*. I would like to think that all the Alkaline water I'm drinking is helping. However, there are probably other factors as well.

A few days after Christmas, I felt that familiar tingling in my joints.  This time around, in my right knee and ankle (this two joint combo is becoming more frequent).   (Attack 1Attack 2).  Unlike in my prior attacks, I didn't try the hot & cold compress methodology anymore.  I went straight to Colchicin & Flanax.  Why is this different from my past practice?  Well, before, in my desire not to take drugs, I usually don't until I already have a full-blown attack.  However, that really messes up my tummy since I would have to take 8-9 consecutive pills in as many hours.  NOT a good experience.

This time around, I drink at the first sign of pain and I end up drinking around 2 pills each. Not a bad trade-off, right?  I think my liver & kidneys thank me for this.

For the third time, there does seem to be some sense to heading off a gout attack before it becomes full blown.  My readings are consistent; that it's harder to stop a gout attack once it's underway.

I hope my experience helps others.
